The Electricity Customer Alliance
Aggregating and Amplifying the Voice of Customers
What ECA Does:
Convene electricity customers—ranging from large manufacturing, industrial, and technology customers to residential consumer advocates—to share information, coordinate on key issues, and facilitate alignment;
Educate federal and state policymakers and regulators on customer energy needs and affordability challenges and amplify customer voices in legislative debates and regulatory proceedings; and
Develop and advance customer-centric policy and regulatory solutions that grow the grid for economic development and national security while lowering costs to customers.
Policy Pillars
-
ECA supports flexible arrangements, like “bring your own power” models, co-location, behind-the-meter aggregation, Grid Enhancing Technologies, and reconductoring, that accelerate power access today and create frameworks for full grid connection in the future.
-
ECA supports fast tracking generation interconnection and transmission planning and construction, and streamlining permitting.
-
ECA supports reforming outdated regulatory and market structures by revisiting RTO/ISO governance, reaffirming competitive market principles, and increasing oversight of local transmission spending and utility return on equity decisions.
